We all have dreams, right? Those lucid moments in the deep of night that could bring us feelings of bliss, confusion, wonder, amazement, and sometimes duress. And through it all, answers are revealed to deep questions of unknown origins that are buried beneath our conscious awareness and presented to us in myriad directions by our subconscious. “It’s always the same. I enter the room. The dinner plates are set. There are a few glasses of wine poured. I take a sip. It tastes like my grandmother’s spaghetti. I look in the mirror hanging above the fireplace and I see myself as a caricature version of John Candy. My mom comes into the room holding a Titleist, 9-Iron. I don’t get it.”

“Dreamin of You” by Social Lovers explores our connection to this world that we sometimes visit when we relinquish our need to hold onto conventions from reality. When we dream of something in the abstract, what we are intending to do is form a bridge between our presented universe to the depths of our fantasies driven by our desire for bliss. Megan Doherty’s vocals lull the listener into the dream with plush utterances, creating the fluffy clouds we can all imagine ourselves soaring through as birds in flight. Matthew Poisson’s elegant and tasteful composition and production allows the dreamer to progress throughout the journey by way of a tranquil stroll. The dreamer is brought to the end of the story with a splash of guitar provided by Joey Nuñez as the viewer can now envision how accessible our bliss can be.
